A Soldier’s Secret is a historical fiction based on a true story that talks about Sarah Emma Edmonds, a woman who escaped from her abusive father and secretly joined the Union Army during the civil war. She pretended to be a man by wearing clothes males used to wear in the 1860s and used Frank Thompson as her fake name. She helped the Union Army back in the civil war as a nurse, postman, and spy for the Federal Secret Service. I loved this book because it had historical information, twisted plots, and character bonding. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning about the civil war! Sarah Emma Edmonds is one clever protagonist who plays a fake male soldier and a fake confederate civilian. It is a challenge for Sarah Emma Edmonds because she made close friends and allies in the Union Army.
