The Book that I read for women's history month is the Coming of age in Mississippi by Anne Moody. She was born to a poor couple on a plantation in Mississippi where she grew in the most dangerous times in the pre-civil era South. It is an autobiography with 90% of the book being accurate to her life. It reveals the horrors that she felt as a black girl in these times. It can feel very dreary and Moody because it is reality and you do that reality it is depressing. it makes me want to self-reflect on American history and read more on the last tales that are trapped deep down. she details all the sights, smells, and the suffering she went through, and she makes you feel the pain she went through. She also goes in-depth on her opinions of someone from the civil rights movement who had a dream with a few harsh words. If you are interested in a woman with an indomitable spirit with the world against her who still can overcome it but has demons trapped in the closet I recommend this book for you.
