Education of Kevin Powell: A Boy's Journey into Manhood

The book that I have selected is called “Education of Kevin Powell: A Boy’s Journey into Manhood.” This book walks us through the author’s childhood and manhood life. Kevin lives in a world filled with racism, abuse, abandonment, complicated love, and police brutality. His father abandoned him when he was a child and his mother taught him to keep learning and always be honest. There were a lot of obstacles that Kevin had to get through, and the odds were against him. What I like about this book, is how Kevin Powell kept fighting for his goals so that he can leave his ghetto life to become a successful writer. He is ambitious, and he always keeps his head up high.
