The reason for why I like this book because it showed the struggles of women in the past. Starting from the main characters Janie who was married off when she turned into a woman and who she is trying to break free from her grandmothers ideology. I also like how this book shows that in even in the black community their is colorism and that some people because they have lighter skin will feel superior. This book is also good because of the thrilling storyline and how Janie manages to keep living life and doesn't get easily brought down. I would definitely recommend this book to somebody.
